Farm Management
THE FARM IS RUN BY A FARM MANAGEMENT BOARD WITH THE ARCHBISHOP OF NYERI AS THE CHAIRMAN

The Technical Committee Members in liaison with the Farm Manager handles all the Technical farm management issues and reports to the Board, the final decision making body as appertains to the approval of the Budget and all other major developments within the farm.

 

The Farm Manager is in charge of all day to day farming activities within the farm. He is also a Member of both the Technical Committee and the Farm Management Board where he sits as the Secretary. The Farm Manager has a working team which includes the Assistant Manager, Section Heads, Supervisors, Skilled and Semi-Skilled labour in different fields and the general labor.

BOARD POLICY STATEMENT

The Nyeri Hill Management Board is extremely concerned that all operations on the farm adhere to the highest standards of quality in both the final cup and in production methods and their impact.

It is the intention of the Farm Board to become the standard of quality of production in the industry and the best practice in all areas of environment, bio-diversity, labor, waste use and conservation, waste management, traceability, land use, product handling, crop protection, fertilizer use and worker welfare.

THE STAFF AND MANAGEMENT

 

Nyeri Hill Farm aims at employing the optimum mix of talents and skills required for its current and future operations without favor or discriminations on Gender, Sex, Race, Color, Creed, Political beliefs and disability. Established post falling vacant are as far as possible filled from within unless there is no suitable candidate in the farm, in which case recruitment from outside is allowed.

WORKERS HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE

Nyeri Hill Farm has a long- standing policy to provide benefits and a way of life that dignifies the human being. We have set up a policy of continued investment and improvement in the lifestyle of the workers. We strive to make our work place safe. Use of protective equipment, conduct trainings and training of trainers in our work force and improvement on the living condition of workers. It is the aim of the Board that our workers shall be the envy of the industry.

Nyeri Hill Farm as a policy will endeavor to sensitize her work force against HIV/AIDS prevention through training and signage. Use of gloves when attending to burns and cuts, abstinence and other methods that will curtail the spread of the disease to the sexually active workforce. Sensitization and signage are posted in the farms premises.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

The Archdiocese of Nyeri through Nyeri Hill Farm and its other institutions is reputedly the biggest employer in Nyeri County and has over the years assisted the local community by providing them with subsidized health and educational facilities. It’s Institutions of learning are ranked among the best performers. Every year, the management of Nyeri Hill Farm has for a number of years been sponsoring eight of the best performing Primary School pupils from disadvantaged families from the neighborhood to continue with their education up to the end of their High School level.
