About Nyeri Hill Farm

Nyeri Hill Farm is a multifaceted farm located in the central part of Kenya specifically Nyeri County.

A little bit of History

Nyeri Hill Farm is owned and managed by the Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri.
The farm was established in 1904 by the Consolata Missionaries. In 1914, the Consolata fathers introduced coffee, with the first demonstration plot near the present site of the Consolata Mission Hospital Mathari.
In 1934, the Consolata Fathers installed a dry and wet mill for processing the coffee. They would then export the coffee to back to Turin, Italy, their birth place. The mill is still functional to date.
Coffee is the major farm produce at Hill Farm with a little under 30% of the entire farm being coffee.
The main mission of establishing the farm was to generate income to facilitate evangelization, eradicate ignorance, poverty and disease.

While coffee remains at the heart of Hill Farm, diversification has been key to our growth. We cultivate 120 acres of tea and rear dairy cows, beef cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs, alongside various crops like maize, wheat, barley, and canola. Future plans include expanding into aquaculture and apiary operations, ensuring a sustainable and resilient farm capable of meeting future demands. The Board’s strategic focus is to transition Hill Farm into a Special Economic Zone. This vision includes various strategies for social and economic impact:
